Coronavirus

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT OUR FUTURE?

The world has seen  a pandemic caused by a previously unknown virus. The first death was reported on 11 January 2020 and as of 31 March that year more than 40,000 worldwide have died from Coronavirus.

In 2023 it has been reported deaths of Covid 19 as 6,866,733!

Some people asked whether this was leading to the end of the world.  The answer is an emphatic NO!  We can say that with utter confidence because of what God has said through his prophet Isaiah in chapter 45 verse 18 “For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.”

We can have every confidence that man will not destroy the earth.

So what does the future hold?  How is the state of affairs in the world going to be resolved? How are men’s fears going to be removed?  Jesus has spoken very clearly of a time when there would be great fear in the world in Luke 21 verse 11 “And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven”

Jesus then goes on to speak of the effect of those fearful sights in verse 26 “Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth….”.

We are being told that there will be fearful times, but for those who believe in God and his word, the Bible, there is a wonderful hope which gives great comfort to help them through those fearful times.

Jesus says in verse 27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory”.

The hope for believers and for the world is that Jesus is going to return to the earth to establish God’s Kingdom on the earth, a Kingdom of peace and righteousness.

Whilst many people’s hearts fail them for fear because of the uncertainty of the future, the believer is encouraged by the signs given to indicate the nearness of Jesus’ return and the wonderful promise of eternal life in God’s Kingdom on the earth.
